What is
Phonic Forge™?
Phonic Forge™ is a picture-powered literacy system built into seven mini-games, all designed to help children connect speech to print.
At the heart of these games is our exclusive collection of uniquely illustrated letters. Each playing card features a meaningful image drawn directly into the letter’s shape creating a visual anchor that helps children learn sounds faster and remember them better.
Designed by a speech-language pathologist and refined through real-world use, it grows with your child from simple picture play to phonics and word building.
Learn letter sounds faster. Remember them better.
Most traditional alphabet tools show a picture next to a letter. While this provides a hint, it forces the child’s brain to split its focus between two separate symbols.
Graphonic Mnemonics™ are the secret behind Phonic Forge. These pretty pictures don’t just sit next to the letter, they are the letter. By combining something familiar with something new,
children don’t have to split their focus.
This supports how the brain naturally learns. Research shows that when abstract letters become concrete, meaningful images, they are easier for the brain to process, remember, and retrieve.

Play Your Way into Real Reading
These seven mini-games are designed to build a strong foundation for reading, starting with spoken language and growing into phonics and word building. Phonic Forge meets your child where they are and guides them through three key phases of early literacy:
Play, Language & Discovery
Children can begin as young as age three by playing simple, rule-based games with the cards. This isn’t free play. It’s structured, turn-taking play that builds important skills like listening, responding, and interacting. At this phase, the focus isn’t reading yet, it’s building the foundation. Five of the seven mini-games are designed to bridge the gap from pre-readers to emerging readers. These games can be played at different levels depending on your child’s development:
picture naming
letter naming
letter sounds
This flexibility allows children to build phonics skills at their own pace, turning familiar images into meaningful sound-to-letter connections. Designed for busy lives, these games can be played in short rounds of as little as five minutes, though you’ll likely find the kids asking for "just one more."
PHASE 1

Letter Sounds (Phonics)
Once the images are familiar, we “flip the script.” We move from naming the picture to identifying the letter sound. The goal here is automaticity, making the connection so fast it feels like it happens by sight.
This is where the illustrated letters make the difference. By connecting the sound directly to the letter’s shape, children learn letter sounds faster and remember them more easily.
PHASE 2

Patterns & Word Building
Once children begin to understand letter sounds, they’re ready for the next step, using language to talk about language. This is where everything comes together. In this phase, children move beyond memorizing individual sounds and begin to understand the "secret codes" that build the English language. By focusing on high-impact patterns, children develop the reasoning skills needed to decode words they’ve never even seen before. In this phase, children:
Recognize Sound Categories: Learn the difference between consonants and vowels to understand how words are structured.
Apply Patterns: Use their knowledge of sounds and word structure to build new words.
Master Blending: Smoothly connect sounds together, turning letters on a page into understandable words.
PHASE 3

Building a Foundation for Lifelong Discovery
Reading is not a single skill. It’s the integration of language, sound, pattern recognition, memory, and practice. Phonic Forge™ brings these pieces together starting with spoken language, building into phonics, and expanding into the patterns and rules that make reading possible.
As children practice, the connections strengthen. The true power of this system is that it builds a bridge your child carries with them forever. Through consistent practice, the connection becomes so strong that the "picture-word-sound-shape" pathway becomes automatic.
The connection moves from the page directly into your child’s mind.
Even when they encounter plain, bare letters in the real world on a book page, a food label, or a street sign they will still "see" the image and recall the sound in their mind's eye. Every encounter in school, at the grocery store, or in a favorite book serves to activate and strengthen that mental map.
This is where language—both verbal and visual—becomes a tool for self-expression. Every child deserves the confidence to navigate the world and the ability to express their own unique identity. By mastering the code of reading, they aren't just learning to decode words; they are gaining the freedom to share their own story with the world.
